Note: That you need to be a member of Davyhulme & District u3a in order to join any of these study and interest groups listed at the bottom of the page
What groups are available?
Davyhulme & District u3a has a selection of available groups covering a range of activities. The list is below, alphabetically, by category, by day, or by venue.
How do I join a group?
The fastest and easiest way is to visit that group's web page (below) and send a message to the Group Leader via the group email address.
How much does it cost?
Your annual u3a subscription gives you access to all groups. Each group is different. Some activities are free, some share costs such as room hire or refreshments, and some activities such as a visit to a local museum or a coach outing are at cost.
All Group Leaders (and Committee members) are volunteers and more are always welcome. We encourage all groups to have at least one Leader but this is especially recommended for our larger groups and some have 3, 4 or more members working as a team. If you can spare a little time and would like to know more about how you can take part then please contact the Group Leader of the group that interests you.
Reminder to members that putting your name down for any chargeable event or activity is a commitment to pay for it.
How can I start a new group?
Groups are run for the members by the members; we are all volunteers. Groups can be run by one person, by a group of friends, or by a team. u3a is about sharing and members are encouraged to take an active part in the running of their respective groups where possible. You don't have to be an expert, just an enthusiastic member. If you have an interest that you would like to share with others, even just two or three others, then it's easy to start a new group. If you are not sure what to do there is an A to Z list of activity advisors in the Third Age Magazine.
New Group starting: We are trialling a Silver Cyclists group this year. We are organising some bike rides. If you are interested please download the leaflet and get in contact. NOTE: Members only please, we are not insured for friends to join the rides.
Activity Groups usually meet Monthly throughout the year on specific day(s) as indicated.
